2 kings 3: 15-16 (AMP)
15 But now bring me a musician.” And it came about while the musician played, that the hand (power) of the Lord came upon Elisha. 16 He said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Make this valley (the Arabah) full of trenches.’ 17 For thus says the Lord, ‘You will not see wind or rain, yet that valley will be filled with water, so you and your cattle and your other animals may drink.

Key Phrase: Bring down a praise.

Life often throws distractions at us, unplanned events that bring confusion, darkness, uncertainty; instead of being weighed down- bring down a praise.

Elisha was in a position where he needed to hear a word from God. Three kings paid him a surprise visit and now stood before him expecting counsel, 2 of which he personally didn’t want to see – a perfect scenario for flesh to speak. BUT…. he stepped back and asked for a minstrel, a musician, a praise leader. Elisha knew that praise brings down the presence and power of God. Elisha knew that when the presence of God comes down it brings with it revelation, light and clarity.

Never allow the distractions of life take you out of the presence of God and cause you to walk/ talk in the flesh. Rather, in spite of the distractions bring down a praise. Bring down a praise when afraid, when lonely, when anxious. Need a revelation- bring down a praise. Need a miracle- bring down a praise. Need a swag- bring down a praise.

This week and all the days of our lives, let our first reaction to challenges be a song of praise.. and as we do so may the presence and power of God be ever present in our every situation. Amen.
