1 Samuel 13:7-13 NKJV

And some of the Hebrews crossed over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was still in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling. Then he waited seven days, according to the time set by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. So Saul said, “Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings here to me.” And he offered the burnt offering. Now it happened, as soon as he had finished presenting the burnt offering, that Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might greet him. And Samuel said, “What have you done?”…………………
…………” And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

Key Phrase: Wait……..

Patience is a virtue. Patience enables us to see the full manifestation of God’s glory.

Patience in a fast paced world is considered “old fashioned” and hence the one that is being patient must do so with a word, a knowledge, an understanding, with faith.

In our text we see the fruits of impatience manifesting in the decision of king Saul not to wait. A word had been given – to wait seven days “according to the time set by Samuel”. The account goes on to say “as soon as he had finished presenting the burnt offering, that Samuel came“. Wait seven days, Saul couldn’t hold on for the full wait period, he was nearly there, but ….fear?…. made him give up the wait. just a little more secs, just a few more minutes, perhaps hours… till the appointed seven days was complete. But …….

Brethren, what we need is a word for this season. If God shows us the whole glorious picture we may blow a fuse, so He gives us enough instruction for this season and sufficient grace to obey till we enter a new season.

Father, please send us a word for this season of our lives. Lord, with every word You send, add to it sufficient grace for us to wait obediently until your appointed time. Mostly Lord, I ask, according to Hab 2:3 that every word of fruitfulness, every word of greatness, every word of healing, that You have spoken into our lives will come to pass…. though it tarries, we shall wait with grace because it will surely come, It will not tarry. In Jesus mighty name.
